Sitting in my chiropractors examination room, I picked this book up and started reading it as I waited for him to finish with his other patients. The entire office could hear my infectious laughter and was later told that everyone there; the doctor, employees and other patients laughed out loud simultaneously with the sounds coming from my exam room. I studied liberal arts in college years ago and as I thumbed my way through the pages of this book, I started laughing histerically as tears streamed down my cheeks. I couldn't put it down because it was getting better with every discovered page. Yes, it is very true: "Laughter is the Best Medicine". I ordered this book as soon as I returned home.
I found myself laughing out loud a lot while reading this book. Any question you have regarding proper grammar. Dr. Lederer is on KSFO talk radio here in the Bay Area the last Friday of each month. origin of sayings and phrases he will answer, since he has a wealth of knowledge. And what he doesn't know for sure he will find in his extensive reference library.
My favorite was the teachers notes like My daughter was sick so I took her to a Dr to have her shot. My brother got this for Christmas and I was Green with Envy so bought my own just now. He went through it and read it at random from place to place and had the whole family laughing aloud. I nearly wet myself laughing. I can't wait to read the rest of it I have a feeling it'll leave any audiance shreiking with laughter.
I was first introduced to this book in college when I was shadowing a teacher, she was using the entries from the books as examples of not paying attention. This book is funny. It was also the book she turned to after a grueling class on Shakespeare where the kids looked like the needed a little boost in spirits. You can just pick it up, read a few lines and chuckle. You can also use this in classrooms. They were laughing out the door.I bought it about 15 minutes after I left her classroom. I do not currently teach in a classroom, but I still enjoy this book a great deal.
This book made me laugh non-stop for two hours. Then it made my wife laugh for two hours, and then my Dad. All just by showing what a little malformed grammar, minor misspelling, or incorrect use of punctuation can do to a sentence.An english lesson and hysterical read all at the same time.
